This policy explains what personal data FlightLayer ("we", "us") collects when you use flightlayer.com and our email alerts, why we collect it, and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Our lawful basis
We send marketing emails only with your consent, which you give by ticking the box when you sign up. You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email. We process basic technical data and respond to messages on the basis of our legitimate interests in running a secure website and answering enquiries.
Who we share data with
We never sell your personal data. We use a small number of service providers to run FlightLayer:
- Email service provider — stores your email address and home airport and sends our emails.
- Website hosting — our site is hosted by Vercel, which processes technical data needed to serve web pages.
These providers act on our instructions and are bound to protect your data. Some may process data outside the UK; where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.
When you click a link to an airline or booking site, you leave FlightLayer. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and any booking you make is between you and them. See our affiliate disclosure for how these links work.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address and home airport while you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep only what we need to make sure we don't email you again. Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you
- have inaccurate data corrected
- have your data deleted
- restrict or object to how we use your data
- receive your data in a portable format
- withdraw consent at any time
